PETER, JAMES, JOHN BEHOLD THE TRANSFIGURED JESUS

“Jesus took Peter, James and John, his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared  to them, conversing with him. . . . then from the cloud came a voice that said, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.’”  Matthew 17: 1-3,5

Interestingly, the evangelists who tell this story also tell the story of Peter’s denial. And John’s Gospel, the last written of the Gospels, has the Resurrected Jesus asking Peter to “Feed My lambs, Feed my sheep.”

So – – Don’t ever doubt God’s all-forgiving love for you.

Let us gather this weekend reassured that God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is with us, however unfit we may think we are to participate in God’s work of leading every one of us to share God’s very life.

“The eternal Father, by a free and hidden plan of His own wisdom and goodness, created the whole world. His plan was to raise men to a participation of the divine life.” Vatican II, Lumen Gentium, Chapter 1, §2
