THE MESSAGE OF CHRISTMAS: GOD IS WITH US

“I have been with you wherever you went,
and I have destroyed all your enemies before you.”
  2 Samuel 7:9

These words of Sunday’s First Reading are spoken by God who hasn’t left us, not any one of us, to face “our enemies” alone.  And most of our enemies are the “demons” within us, those tendencies that keep us from believing that God could love us and be “with us” wherever we go.  So for a moment sit in the presence of this ever “with you” God in something akin to, but more real than virtual reality, and drink in Gabriel’s message from God, not only to Mary but, in a very unique-to-each-individual way, to each of us:

“The angel said to her,
‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.’” Luke 1:35

When Christ comes, God will be seen by us
There is one God,
who by his word and wisdom
created all things
and set them in order.

His Word is our Lord Jesus Christ,
who in this last age
became man among men
to unite end and beginning,
that is,
man and God.  Saint Irenaeus, (circa 130-202)

Spend some time this Christmas stepping into God’s reality. That is real prayer – letting yourself be in God’s presence:  “wherever you went” or go!
Enjoy (Don’t miss.) the greatest gift of all!
