TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL

“God sets a father in honor over his children;
a mother’s authority he confirms over her sons.” Sirach 3:2

“When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord. . , they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.  When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to their own town of Nazareth.  The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.”  Luke 2: 39-40

Consider Jesus, growing in faith and wisdom through the loving care and watchful eyes of Mary and Joseph in their home in Nazareth.  How strong is your faith in God? How evident is your faith and wisdom in your interactions with your children and grandchildren?  How necessary those interactions are to their perceiving that the “favor of God” is upon them!

Think long and hard about what you are and are not teaching your children and your grandchildren!

“Parents are the first and best teachers, because they can help their children to truly understand that they are lovable and they are loved. That my friends, becomes the conduit to encounter Jesus Christ. It is the most intimate and powerful way to learn that. And therefore, our parents are at the frontline of evangelization, for they allow that encounter to occur.” Bishop Frank Caggiano, Diocese of Bridgeport CT
