ADVENT – THE DEEPER REASON FOR THE SEASON

It is Advent and, of course, once again we are trying to get our minds around the meaning of the Incarnation – God becoming one of us – at a time when our senses are bombarded with the Christmas ads for material gifts. The Incarnation is the best gift ever and it deserves our attention and expressions of appreciation and gratitude.  Let’s see if we can find at least ten minutes a day to stop our material Christmas preparations and reflect on the “reason for the season” – deepening our integration into God’s gifts to us and all humanity. Let’s not forget to gift our family, friends and ourselves in a God-centered way through prayer and reflection during Advent, so that by Christmas we have a deeper “reason for the season” to share with our family and friends.  And in doing this we will be leveling some mountains and filling some valleys to make a straight path for the Second Coming of the Lord.

Come, Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:20
